Two Worlds (a poem)

You dismiss her as a a placid lake

late summer’s dark serenity

and cool indifference

But — oh! If only you knew

of the world where she really lives

where lava flows, trapped beneath the cold rock

the green, dancing place of

bubbling springs

and so many Monarch butterflies
